Carole Decker, PhD RN is a researcher and past director of Cardiovascular Outcomes Research at Saint Luke’s Mid America Heart Institute (MAHI) and adjunct research faculty at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, School of Nursing. Her research focus for the past 13 years has been cardiovascular shared decision-making and patient adherence, particularly focused on using qualitative methodology.

Dr. Decker is a member of the Oversight Advisory Group for the American Heart Association’s (AHA) Strategic Focused Research Network (SFRN) for the Prevention Research Centers. She is active with the AHA Quality of Care and Outcome Research Council as well as the AHA Cardiovascular and Stroke Nursing council. She has been a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality since 1997 and was named a Fellow of the AHA in 2009.
