Influenza outbreaks are currently limited to the community level in Kansas. Missouri is experiencing more extensive, regional activity, whereas Nebraska and Oklahoma have widespread influenza activity. Nationally, influenza cases are increasing.

Thus far, Influenza A/H3 is the predominant strain circulating in Kansas. Isolated cases of A/H1 and B/Yamagata have also been detected. Surveillance data are limited at the moment, however, the circulating strains appear to be a good match for the 2016-2017 influenza vaccine.
