Value-Based Healthcare - a regional priority in the Path to 2025 strategy
Making Kansas City THE Outcomes Region in the Nation
In the regional strategy developed with broad community support and Deloitte, the Path to 2025 articulates our strength in Health IT and Outcomes Research. In executing on the Path to 2025, a working group co-chaired by Dick Flanagan, President, Cerner, and Dr. John Spertus, Saint Luke's Health System, has developed a vision for our region that states, "The Kansas City region is developing a value-based collaborative healthcare ecosystem to establish Kansas City as The Outcomes Research Region in the nation."
To effect this vision the working group has implemented a pilot program to get all regional hospitals aware of the savings in value-based healthcare and the opportunity to concurrently improve patient outcomes. We chose to work with a local company, Health Outcome Sciences, with a fully developed software package designed to deliver value-based healthcare in percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). For details of the program, please see the attached executive summary and supporting documents.
The working group will continue efforts with regional hospitals and payers to develop a collaborative ecosystem that will attract companies developing healthcare solutions to drive value-based healthcare in our region. The Collaborative2Cure program will hopefully bring interested parties together to solve some of our many healthcare issues.
